Japanese Quilt Blocks (+ FREE patterns!)

We love the clean lines and color scheme of this Asian-inspired quilt! The book Japanese Quilt Blocks by Susan Briscoe was the quilt maker's primary inspiration.  Some wonderful fabrics were chosen for this custom quilt.  Paper piecing was used to make the kimono, koi fish, origami, and fan blocks!

Japanese by Teresa Pretlow, quilted by Penny Boese

Teresa Pretlow made this quilt for a grandchild who has an interest in Japanese subjects.  The book Japanese Quilt Blocks by Susan Briscoe was Teresa's primary inspiration.  Check out the lovely kimono and koi blocks, below!

The sashing corner blocks (with a red-on-black print) tie everything together. They were cut from a fabric printed with Japanese characters. For the finishing touch, Penny Boese quilted a lotus flower/clamshell design which we love.
