Red Heart Love by Ellen Born, quilted by Sharon Elsberry

Ellen Born says, "Red Heart Love" was made in 2008 after I learned how to sew Drunkard's Path blocks and was fascinated with the designs that could be created with the curved blocks. The red heart fabrics make a great February wall hanging to celebrate love."  Sharon Elsberry did some beautiful professional machine quilting in the blocks and background.

Annie's Purple Heart by Mimi Pollow, quilted by Quality Quilterz (Tucson, Arizona)

Mimi Pollow says that this wall size quilt was started at a quilting retreat in New Hampshire, based on a pattern by MJ Kinman called "Annie".  The overall quilting by Quality Quilterz includes plenty of hearts.

The inspiration for this pattern is Army Lt. Annie G. Fox, the first woman to be awarded the Purple Heart medal in 1942 for her heroic service during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. MJ Kinman calls her technique “traditional quilting using freezer paper as your templates.” (It's not foundation paper piecing as you don’t have to sew to paper.)
