Quilt Inspiration: Roses

This original art quilt was designed and made by Martha Fine as a tribute to the maternal generations within her family. We love the design and symbolism of this piece.

Falling Rose Petals Become Leaping Waters by Martha Fine

The appliqued roses in pink, red and peach hues are shown dropping petals, which ultimately land in the water at the bottom of the quilt. The colors of the petals change as they fall, shifting to the blue hues of the water.

Martha Fine explains, "My granddaughter's name is Tallulah which means leaping waters.  My mother's name was Rose.  This quilt shows the connection between the generations." Details of the roses are shown in the closeup photo below.
