Hillside Houses (+ FREE House quilt patterns!)

We love house quilts! Hillside Houses won Honorable Mention (white ribbon) at the 2026 Quilt Arizona show. Bright solid-color houses nestle together on a hillside, their windows glowing cheerfully from within.

Hillside Houses, made and quilted by Jillane Ocano.  

 

 

The colorful houses have a 3D appearance, similar to tumbling blocks quilts.  Jillane Ocano says this quilt was fun to piece and that choosing fabrics to try to enhance the dimension was a bit of a challenge! It was beautifully machine quilted (hand guided) with a track-mounted machine. The quilt was based on the Hillside Houses pattern by Pretty Little Quilts (for a description, see the Pretty Little Quilts blog.) 

The Hillside Houses pattern includes instructions for three sizes: a throw (60" x 75"), a wall-hanging (30" x 37") or the mini (15" x 18"). It also includes a coloring page so you can choose your own palette!
