Cats in Pajamas

Cats and quilts go together! Today's featured quilt has six sweet kitties dressed in pajamas. The quilter, Betsy Verrico, created this tribute to the cats her family owned in the past.  Read on for her story!

Cats in Pajamas by Betsy Verrico, quilted by Marti Jones.   

This quilt has whimsy, fitting the "Sew Whimsical" theme of the 2025 Quilt Arizona show.  Betsy Verrico says, "I have owned a cat since I was six years old.  Now we have two rescue cats: Cody and Dallas.  This quilt represents cats we have had in the past: Mittens, Smokey, Tiffany, Crystal, Dusty, Rosy and Shadow.   It reminds us that pets will always be in our lives."  We love the overall "row" quilting done by Marti Jones.

Betsy Verrico's Cats in Pajamas was based on a published design by Elizabeth Hartman. This is a patchwork-pieced pattern; the blocks are made entirely of rotary-cut squares and rectangles, and everything is sewn together using conventional patchwork techniques (there are no templates or paper piecing). We love the single-block pillow, shown below on the pattern cover.
