This quilt has whimsy, fitting the "Sew Whimsical" theme of the 2025 Quilt Arizona show. Betsy Verrico says, "I have owned a cat since I was six years old. Now we have two rescue cats: Cody and Dallas. This quilt represents cats we have had in the past: Mittens, Smokey, Tiffany, Crystal, Dusty, Rosy and Shadow. It reminds us that pets will always be in our lives." We love the overall "row" quilting done by Marti Jones.
Betsy Verrico's Cats in Pajamas was based on a published design by Elizabeth Hartman. This is a patchwork-pieced pattern; the blocks are made entirely of rotary-cut squares and rectangles, and everything is sewn together using conventional patchwork techniques (there are no templates or paper piecing). We love the single-block pillow, shown below on the pattern cover.

I am working on this quilt. I has taken me hours and hours just to get the faces sewn together! Tomorrow I will start working on the ears. The faces have 14 pieces. All I can say is that the granddaughter who is getting this quilt must love it or I am taking it back! I am using Tula Pink's cat fabrics for the pjs--so very cute! I think my cat totally approves...
