Together We Can, 43 x 56.5", by Wendy Butler Berns
Wendy's original design is based on a family photo of an elementary school field day in which her child took part. She writes, "On the playground, the third graders race across the field, carrying a huge earth ball. The group of eight children must work together with their combined strength and teamwork to keep the earth ball from toppling to the ground.... [Hopefully], as our children grow and pursue positions of leadership, they will........carry this spirit of... cooperation into the future to strive towards peace and to help preserve the earth and its inhabitants."

Wendy's son, Greg, is the blond boy here in the print shirt. Wendy notes that the background of the quilt is constructed of two inch squares, and the globe itself is constructed of one inch squares. The images of the children are machine appliqued, and the entire work is machine quilted.

I especially love the idea behind this quilt. You got a lot of mileage from the Huston show. Maybe it is time for you to make a trip to Japan. The Tokyo Dome show is coming at the end of the month... Hint hint.
ReplyDeleteQue maravilla.
