Starry Night

The summer solstice is less than a month away, and brilliant stars are on the horizon. Join us as we admire a brilliant star quilt from last year's Road to California show. ~ p.s. Starry Night by Susan Scholfield (Canton, Michigan)

Susan Scholfield's Starry Night quilt was inspired by the Not So Lone Star quilt made by Liza Prior Lucy with Kaffe Fassett fabrics.  That quilt was featured in the 2010 book called Simple Shapes, Spectacular Quilts.

Susan Scholfield received permission to exhibit her quilt inspired by Liza's design. Free motion feathers abound in the dark background of the quilt to enhance the colorful diamond shapes within the Lone Star pattern.

This Lone Star quilt is a study in color and quilt design, with free motion quilting within the diamonds enhancing the geometric shapes.  We love the choice of fabrics, patterns, and colors in this beautifully-made quilt.  Susan Scholfield has won many quilting awards, including Best Home Sewing Machine Quilted at the 2019 Sauder Village Quilt show.
