We're celebrating Independence Day with 8 days of red, white and blue quilts! The Declaration of Independence (July 4, 1776), says: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." We hope your happiness includes plenty of quilting.

Patriotic Fandango: Freedom is not Free, ~46 x 46", by Patricia C. Kilmark (Atlanta, Georgia)
This quilt reminds us of fireworks! Freedom is not Free won first place in the 12th annual Quilters Treasure challenge, which had the theme "What is your Passion?" Patricia C. Kilmark says, “My passion is and has been acknowledging the efforts of veterans and returning service men and women for the sacrifices they have made on our behalf so that we can enjoy our freedom. Untold numbers of veterans have fought unselfishly for our freedom, mine and yours."
Patricia is a volunteer leader for Quilts of Valor and has made many quilts for veterans. She says, "Karen Griska developed the Fandango pattern which appealed to me a great deal and has inspired me to adapt the pattern for two different quilts."
