Over the River (and Through the Woods)

Over the river and through the woods... to grandmother's house we go! We've always loved that song. The little family travels in a horse drawn sleigh through the snowy woods & across the river to Grandmother's warm & welcoming farmhouse. You can practically smell the turkey roasting!

Over the River by Barbara Hall Walsh (Utah), quilted by Virginia Gore.

Barbara Hall Walsh says, "I have always enjoyed handwork.  I had seen this quilt in many colors - brown, black, even gray - but I had never seen it done in blue.  I love the results." The pattern is from Over the River and Through the Woods by Meg Hawkey at Crabapple Hill Studio [also available on Amazon.]

  1. You did a beautiful job on this quilt. Love your stitching and the blue tones! I have the pattern but haven't made the quilt......just couldn't think of what colors to use. I don't think the brown on the pattern does it justice. Also, love how you had it quilted. It doesn't distract just adds to the beauty of your quilt. Now it's on my list to make in 2023.
