Free pattern day: Thousand Pyramids quilts!

Thousand Pyramids and Diamond quilts are among our favorite one-block patterns. Isosceles triangles (pyramids) create a beautiful, impressionistic look when made with patterned fabrics in coordinating colors.  Here are some wonderful FREE patterns for 1000 pyramids.... use them to design your own "pyramid scheme"! Note: This post was originally inspired by the 2014 Winter Olympics, which took place in Sochi, Russia.  The theme was based on the patchwork quilt! The Sochi designs resemble Thousand Pyramids and Diamond quilts.

The orange Olympics banner reminded us of Jan Krentz's classic "Indian Summer" quilt:

  1. I have a triangle UFO... There's always something else you "have to" work on.
Thanks for sharing the triangle quilts. Gorgeous.

  2. Have made several diamond/triangle quilts and have several UFOs. Just not enough time in the day, you know!? LOL

  3. Great post! I discussed the quilt connection to Sotchi yesterday with my students at school who had a math competition on patchwork!
