Once Upon a Time by Kira Holladay (Utah)

Once Upon a Time is the beginning of many fairy tales.  This original quilt depicts the heartwarming scene of a mother reading to her child. Kira Holladay used pixels to outline a mother, with a child on her lap, and an open book. The extensive white background is not negative space: it is quilted with characters from numerous childhood stories.

Kira says, "Some of my favorite moments in life are when we see life together, and reading is just one way to do that. This quilt showcases 112 of our favorite stories. Some are classics, others are lesser known, and one is unpublished."
