Far, Far Away, 53 x53", by Charlene Nelson (Utah)
Charlene Nelson captures a fantasy land - a "place of peace and joy" - in this charming, original design: "25 years ago my daughter was in college and wanted to make a fairy castle quilt. She gave me an idea of what she wanted the castle to look like. That gave me some direction.
The castle background and trees were started. It [then] joined the unfinished quilt collection. Our quilt group "house" challenge brought it out this year, and it morphed from fairy castle to 'Far Far Away.' "
This idyllic scene includes many unique and adorable cottages, which are within the forest and overlooking a river. Far, Far Away was machine pieced, machine appliqued, and machine quilted.
