Modern Plumbing, design by Malcolm Neifeld, made & quilted by Kris Neifeld

What a clever variation on a tumbling block!  Light, medium and dark values create the optical illusion. Malcolm Neifeld says, "Most of my time is taken up by school, so after designing this and choosing fabrics, my mom pieced the top.  I chose the quilting. This was designed in the midst of my isometric 3-D fascination.  I wanted to make more than a cool cube, and gave myself the challenge of writing the instructions without the use of "Y" seams."

  1. I'm making one of these quilts right now for my husband. The name of the pattern is Hygge and you can see it on: https://www.quiltersclinic.com/shop/c/p/Hygge-Pattern-x53469944.htm
I'm making it in the same colors as the picture on the pattern. My husband bought this pattern at the last quilt show we went to, and quite honestly, I haven't enjoyed making it because I don't like his fabric selection. But I love him, so I keep on sewing. What I didn't realize when he purchased it was that it all consists of sewing together small triangles! You can't see them once they're sewn, ironed and quilted, but it's a tedious process.
